Hurricane Ridge

Hurricane Ridge starts in Port Angeles,Washington and climbs for 31km from there. The first part of the climb when you leave the town proper is the hardest at about 7% grade with pitches to 8-9%. You reach the Ranger Station happily as the grade flattens and you get a break, pay your $5 entry to the park and continue on. The road is fantastic as it was repaved in 2008 and the balance of the ride continues for a great climb from tree lined roads up to sub-alpine forests the into the alpine area. Snow still lingered up top and tourists offered congratulations for the accomplishment. The view was unbelievable offering panoramic shots of the Olympic Range. There was a lodge up top where I could grab a much needed Powerade and some M&M's for the ride back down which was the best part of the ride.
